Crochet Olek: artist covers objects and people in wool
A plane comes in to land over a person covered in crocheted yarn on a beach on St Martin in the Caribbean. Polish-born artist Olek has created wacky crocheted and knitted artworks around the world.

Olek, real name Agata Oleksiak, says the intensive nature of her work often finds herself alone for days. “I feel like somebody, or rather something glued the hook with crazy clue to my fingers. A loop after a loop. Hour after hour my madness becomes crochet. Life and art are inseparable.”

Olek exhibits in galleries but also performs guerrilla ‘yarnbombing’ actions such as on Antony Gormley’s beach sculptures in Liverpool.
