Japanese artist Seikou Yamaoka creates complex and beautiful digital paintings on his iPod Touch during his commute to work. This amazing time-lapse video reveals the striking image of a woman ‘painted’ over three and half hours using the £1.99 app ArtStudio.

Using just his finger tips and a cheap application, Seikou Yamaoka carefully builds up strokes of colour on the 3.5-inch screen over several hours. He says his goal is to produce images that look more like watercolour paintings than digital artworks.

A wacky range of iPhone cases has been designed to help disguise the fact you are chatting on your mobile. The £13 EARonic cases feature realistic images of ears so it doesn’t look as if you have a handset pressed to the side of your head. Designed by Daniela Gilsanz, a design student at RISD (The Rhode Island School of Design), they can be bought online from www.collabcubedshop.com…

Danish company Aesir have collaborated with American designer, Yves Behar, to create the Æ+Y, an 18-carat-gold mobile phone. The £37,000 handset isn’t even a smartphone – it only allows you to call and send texts (using its staggered Qwerty keyboard). If your budget doesn’t quite stretch to the gold phone, there’s also a stainless steel version for £6,300.

Facebook f8: media tie-ups and Twitter integration expected
Facebook is expected to launch a media platform and deeper Twitter integration at f8, its annual developers conference this week.
Speculation continues to mount as to what Facebook, which now has more than 750 million members, will announce this Thursday.
Originally thought just to be a new digital music platform in partnership with the likes of Spotify and Rhapsody, it is now believed that the site will announce a whole host of partnerships with film, TV and media companies.
According to several senior media executives, who wish to remain anonymous, Facebook has signed partnership deals with the likes of Hulu, in a bid to provide a content offering, in the form of a large media platform, directly to its users.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder and chief executive, is also expected to reveal a deeper integration with Twitter – which was outlined in a preview document released to developers.
Last week Facebook launched a new subscribe button, in a bid to add a Twitter-like element to its service, allowing people to see public updates from users they are not ‘friends’ with on the site.
However, in this next step, all users of Facebook will be able to update their Twitter account directly from Facebook. Up until now, this type of functionality was available but only via Facebook fan pages.
The Telegraph has also learned that Deezer, a French digital music service, which launched in the UK last week, will also be a partner and has a stand at the Facebook event in London at the company’s European headquarters – where the event will be simulcast live from Palo Alto. There are expected to be as many 10 digital music services signed up to form this new music platform on Facebook.
A Facebook spokesman said: “There’s nothing new to announce. Many of the most popular music services around the world are integrated with Facebook and we’re constantly talking to our partners about ways to improve these integrations.”
