From the tender age of 6, Headmasta has been exposed to a myriad of music genres and styles.
Growing up in the glorious age of music that is the 80’s, He would listen to everything from funk, soul and hip hop to new wave and electronica. He also delved into the classic urban culture of breakdance and was even part of a dance crew.
Being surrounded by music day and night, it was only a matter of time before he found himself behind a pair of turntables. He took on DJing with full force, learning and observing from the best and getting his hands dirty on the decks. Fuelled by his passion and belief that music can inspire, invigorate and entertain, He quickly rose up in the local House music and Dance scene.
His House Music influences stretches a mile long and includes acts such as Roger Sanchez, Daft Punk, Faithless,Jesse Saunders,Larry Levan,Frankie Knuckles, Gregor Salto, Jesse Garcia, Jose Padilla, Blanco y Negro, Shapeshifter, Laidback Luke and many more.This coupled with his roots in R&B and Hip Hop, led him developing a unique style of House that takes influences from the soothing sounds of Beach Grooves, the passionate rhythm of Latin House and the anthem sounds of Main Room thrown in the mix.
His energetic and versatile approach to House Music enables him to understand and control the the dance floor and get music lovers moving and grooving the way he choose them to be with a simple push of the play button.Today,Headmasta has become one of the most sought after House Music DJs in the country ( Malaysia). Most notably, he was awarded the title of BEST DANCE DJ (CLUB) at the VOICE Independent Music Awards 2010 (VIMA),Malaysia’s largest independent music awards.
The man believes in keeping the passion for music alive because music is the voice of emotion, It brings people together and has the power to end conflicts.
