FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL 2012 LAUNCH

Main organisers, Alliance Francaise and the Embassy of France in Malaysia celebrated the launch ofÂ French Film Festival 2012 today with cocktails and a preview screeningÂ of romance comedy movie â€śRomantics Anonymousâ€ť in GSC Pavilion KL.
Host for the evening was H.E. Madam Martine Dorance, Ambassador of France to Malaysia, Y.A.M. Tengku Zatashah binti Sultan Idris Shah (Royal Patron and President of Alliance Francaise de Kuala Lumpur), together with Mr Stephane Dovert (Scientific and Cultural Counsellor of French Embassy) and Madam Agnes Dovert (Director of Alliance Francaise de Kuala Lumpur).
Joining them was honoured guests, representative of the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Mr Tan Keng Chok (Director of Civil Engineering & Drainage Department, City Hall of Kuala Lumpur), Ms Koh Mei Lee (Chief Executive Officer, GSC) and Mr CK Tan (Managing Director, Â Pernod Ricard Malaysia).Â Also present was H.E. Mr Vincent Piket (Ambassador of European Union to Malaysia), Dr. Volker Wolf (Goethe-Institut), Mr Shoichi Toyoda (Japan Foundation), Ms Kyoko Kugai (Japan Foundation), H.E. Mr Folco de Luca GabrielliÂ (Ambassador of Italy to Malaysia), H.E. Dr Guenter Gruber (Ambassador of German Embassy Kuala Lumpur) and Mr Irving Chee (GSC General Manager).
2012 marks the 12th consecutive year that the annual French Film Festival is being held here in GSC International Screens in GSC Pavilion KL, Mid Valley and 1 Utama (New Wing). The film festival will run from May 24- June 3, and go north to GSC Gurney Plaza Penang from June 7 â€“ 13, 2012.
A total of seven (7)Â French movies will be featured in the film festival, which includes two limited screenings of digital 2D moviesÂ each for Â â€śThe Artistâ€ť and Â â€śIntouchablesâ€ť. The rest of the movies i.e. â€śRomantic Anonymousâ€ť, â€śService Entranceâ€ť, â€śFather of My Childrenâ€ť, â€śKorkoroâ€ť, and â€śA Cat in Parisâ€ť will be in 35mm film format. Â Tickets for the movies will be at GSCâ€™s prevailing ticket pricing for Digital 2D and normal film format.
The much anticipated black and white, silent movie, â€śThe Artistâ€ť which triumphed at the Oscars this year, winning five awards including Best Picture, Best Actor in leading role for Jean Dujardin, Best Director, Best Costume Design and Best Original Soundtrack will be screened in French without English subtitles in GSC Pavilion KL (May 25, 9pm show) and in GSC Gurney Plaza, Penang (June 10, 1pm show).
Another must-see digital 2D movie â€“ â€śIntouchablesâ€ť will be limited to GSC Mid Valley (May 26 â€“ Saturday) and in GSC 1 Utama (June 3 â€“ Sunday). This movie is based on a true story of two men who should have never met. An aristocrat who was paralyzed in a paragliding accident and Senegalese parolee he hired to take care of him.

GSC launched a co-branded credit card â€“ the GSC-Hong Leong Credit Card (formerly known as GSC EON Bank Credit card), the Ultimate Movie card in May 2009 to cater to the needs of movie fans. This is the first credit card to offer discounts on movie tickets, refreshments and in GSC F &B outlets.
Movie-goers can purchase their tickets via GSC E-Payment (online), available at 22 locations nationwide except GSC Terminal One and GSC Pelangi Leisure Mall. Alternately, patrons can choose to print their own tickets â€“ GSC SelfPrint with 2D barcode to be validated at 19 cinemas (inclusive of Gold Class and GSC Maxx).
GSC launched a mobile application â€“ GSC Mobile App (iPhone) in May 2011 and for Android devices in November 2011, which enables movie-goers to purchase via m2u mobile, PayPal account or RHB Now (Android only) on their smartphones and scan the 2D barcode via the phone at cinema checkpoints.
Besi des movies, GSC halls also cater for events like gala premieres, press conferences, product launch and seminars. GSC cinemas provide ready luxurious theatre style seating with facilities like wide screen projection, LCD projector for full audio-visual presentation for event organizers.
