The drool factor! That’s the name of Petz Unleashed’s game.
There is certainly plenty of drool at Petz PowWow@The Mines 2011 on April 16 & 17, 2011.
This event that is to launch this new company set on building a community of dog and cat lovers where they can fraternize online and offline by enjoying outings with their pets, enjoy special deals just for pet lovers, keep abreast on pet news through their online magazine at www.petzunleashed.com and buy stuff at their soon to be open online store is enough to keep pet lovers drooling.
Shoba Mano and Lukman Kusuma co-founders of Petz Unleashed were at aforadio’s studio to discuss what people can expect at Petz PowWow.
“The highlight of the event will be the riverboat rides for dogs and their carers. It is a 30 minute ride that will cruise right through the mall,” said Shoba.
“There will also be dog demos, cat exhibition and dog and cat fashion shows.”
The public may also participate in the many contests being run such as Dog and Owner Food Eating contest for which Canadian Pizza and Royal Canin will be sponsoring the food.
There will be individual contests run from the booths of participating vendors such as Shape magazine running Best Dressed Pet Contest, Most Photogenic Pet(s) & Owner Contest and Best Pet & Owner Lookalike Contest which will also run on the magazine’s social media sites.
In fact the contests are not only running on the two days of the event but already running right now on www.petzunleashed.com to raise awareness of this event and also on aforadio.com in the run up to the Petz PowWow which lasts for two days from 10 am to 8 pm.
Apart from the contests and rides, there will be interesting product launches such as event sponsor Royal Canin’s launch of their latest breed specific food range for the Golden Retriever and Rottweiler.
Royal Canin will also give talks on the benefits of tailor-made food to combat specific health issues affecting these breeds, apart from promoting their latest range of grooming products that save owners huge bills.

Aforadio.com will be at the event in their cruisers to provide live coverage and give out goodie bags to visitors.
Other booth vendors present will be Starbucks, Aeroline luxury bus liner which will also be running contests to offer free tickets to Penang and Singapore, Q-Net, a billion dollar company will talk about its corporate stand for vegetarianism and grooming companies will be at hand to give your pet a wash and trim too.
The boat rides consist of the normal 30 minute ride called the Greenery Ride and the massage cruise which is hour long where you can enjoy a massage and snacks while you cruise with your dog. The massage cruise must be booked in advance and there are limited places only. Details can be found on www.petzunleashed.com.
“In keeping with the companies vision to see better treatment of all animals including the homeless and strays, Petz Unleashed is providing booths for free to animal rescue organisation Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better, and shelter, H.O.P.E Johor.,” said Lukman.
Among one of the many contests Petz Unleashed ran on www.petzunleashed.com was for the most innovative idea to raise funds from a booth at Petz PowWow@The Mines 2011 for these two NGOs.
A winner for this contest was picked on March 26 and given a free booth to put her idea to work and the profits from that booth will be handed over to the two NGOs.
The winner, Kogila Vani d/o Superamaniam, 30 proposed to use her booth as a pet bakery, selling an attractive range of dog biscuits, cakes and cookies made of wholesome ingredients for both cats and dogs such as Apple Crunch Pup cakes, Peanutty Pupsicles, Bad Breath Banishers, Banana Biscotti and Carob Loaf cake to name a few.
A limited supply of human and canine/feline combo will also be available so owners and their pets can enjoy a cake each.
To help the NGOs with their adoption drive, Vani is offering adopters coupons that will entitle them to a freebies and discounts.

“The pet world in Malaysia has never seen the likes of such an event firstly because never before have boat rides been offered for pets and their carers and usually with pet carnivals you see only pet industry traders taking up booth space whereas we have a variety of companies participating to prove that the market is beginning to recognize the pet as a family member and not a second class citizen to be treated differently.”
