Twestival® (or Twitter Festival) uses social media for social good by connecting communities offline on a single day to highlight a great cause and have a fun event.
This year, Twestival® is supporting PRIHATIN, a NGO in Kota Bahru caring for single mothers and children living with AIDS/HIV.
As of today, there are currently 712 single mothers and 1500 children registered with PRIHATIN, in which 684 of the children are HIV positive.
Twestival Organisers hope to help raise money to help them in this cause.
And you can help too ya

Twestival report from March 3rd, 2011
After weeks of decided which charity to chose, we decided on the Pertubuhan Masyarakat Prihatin

Pertubuhan Masyarakat Prihatin (PMP) is an organization that seeks to care for single mothers and children living with AIDS/HIV. The organization was established on 16th July 2004 by Pn. Hjh. Zaimah Husin who is both the counselor and treasurer for the organization. Their benefactor is Dr. Ghazali Hasni Bin Hj. Mohd. Hassan, who was the director of Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II at that time. The PMP advisory committee consists of Dr. Mahiran binti Mustafa and Dr. Narita binti Ahmad who are also specialists serving at the hospital.
Previously located at small shop lot, thanks to the assistance from the Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Kelantan, PMP now owns two buildings which is used as a office and center of operations. As of today, there are currently 712 single mothers and 1500 children registered with PMP, in which 684 of the children are HIV positive.
PMP was established with hopes to care for these single mothers and give them the chance to live good and normal lives.
Besides the lack of awareness, PMP believes that the society and economy also plays a part in increasing the infection of HIV/AIDS among the women, especially those who are married. This is because these women are required to comply with their husbands, who might not be practicing prevention.
Because of this, the PMP believes that we, as a concerned society, should treat this problem as an obligation that to be shared. And because of this, the PMP tries its very best to help these single mothers through various activities and programmes.
