Over 20,000 Attendees Filled with Wanderlust at Malaysia’s First Mobile-Led Klook Travel Fest



  • Malaysians saved a total of RM1 million from event-exclusive deals

Klook, a world-leading travel activities and services booking platform held Malaysia’s first-ever mobile-led Travel Fest with more than 20,000 attendees at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC). The two-day travel festival on 28 and 29 September

had attendees bring home more than 22,000 booked activities and services via Klook’s mobile app.

The festival was organised to disrupt the traditional travel fair experience and customers were able to purchase e-tickets, ranging from popular theme parks, tours and travel essentials via Klook’s mobile app. Exclusive onsite limited flash deals were also made available every half an hour alongside Insta-

worthy booths, interactive games and educational sharing sessions by celebrities and influencers.

Marcus Yong, Regional Marketing Director, Klook shared, “Malaysia’s first mobile-led Klook Travel Fest was a success with over 20,000 attendees booking more than 22,000 travel deals within two days. It was heartening to know that dream holidays were fulfilled as the attendees saved over RM1 million from the event exclusive travel deals.”

Malaysians’ love for Japan continued as 60% of the bookings during the festival were made up of Japan- related activities, with the top three activities being - Universal Studio Japan, JR Pass, and Osaka Amazing Pass.

Additionally, Western Japan has also been rising in popularity. In order to better serve this demand, Klook partnered up with West Japan Railway (JR-West), allowing Malaysian travellers to easily redeem their JR-West tickets via train station vending machines after purchasing them on Klook. Travellers could also opt for JR-West Rail Pass combo packages to enjoy popular local activities in Osaka,Hiroshima, and Okayama.

“While Malaysians are very receptive to adopting digital trends, they also love to be connected through experiential events. We saw a spike of 250% mobile app downloads across the two-day festival. This truly reaffirms our offline-to-online strategy, which helped us to reach out to a wider target segment of consumers directly and learn more about their travel preferences. We were able to educate them on the best ways to leverage our platform to create a seamless travel experience,” Mr. Yong said.

Alongside the amazing travel deals, celebrities such as Sazzy Falk, Daphne Iking and Wong Chui Ling shared tips on traveling with children. Special performances by content creator Jenn Chia and singer- songwriter Jon Liddell, immersive historical-themed theatre show by Encore Melaka, Japanese Taiko drum performances by Wadaiko Syo and also K-Pop dance moves by Kueendom & Kingsmen kept the attendees entertained.

Attendees scored amazing flash deals and engaged with popular attractions such as Ocean Park Hong Kong, Malaysia Airlines, Aquaria KLCC, Sunway Lagoon, Kidzania, Singapore Zoo, Universal Studio Singapore, Universal Studio Japan, Sea Life Bangkok, Paris Disneyland, Lotte World, Everland and Shanghai Disneyland. Limited edition Klook merchandises and prizes such as Dyson Supersonic hairdryer, Apple AirPods, and Nintendo Switch were given away to complete their travels. Uniqlo also gave out stylish yet functional AIRism and HEATECH pieces for free at the event.
