Since the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on March 18, Malaysians have been frequently advised to stay home to help curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Everyone hope that the situation will recover soon and we will eventually be able to return to our normal daily lives. To achieve that, the choice is in our hands.
Therefore, to show support to our government's effort, the recording company, Universal Music Malaysia & Def Jam Malaysia has come up with a special project through a hip hop song, #JANGANKELUAR.

Interestingly enough, this campaign-based project brings together 17 different singers in terms of genre and musical background in one song. Among those involved are Shila Amzah, Yonnyboii, Hafiz Hamidun, Rabbit Mac, Shalma Eliana, Sophia Liana, Alvin Chong and Bella Astillah.
Besides those listed, Luca Sickta, Kmy Kmo, Tuju, KOWACHEE, ASYRFNSIR, Abubakarxli, Siqma, DOLLA and Malik Abdullah are also involved. All the singers performed at home before these performances are incorporated into a song. In fact, each singer has also been assigned a 'key' according to the parts they have to sing. Luca Sickta said it is a call out to the public asking them to stay at home during the MCO.
“This song is a project that brings together 17 artists including myself and Kmy Kmo. It is a reminder for the public to comply with the rules in order to break the Covid-19 chain.
“The original song was produced by Jkei and written by Yonnyboii and the additional lyrics was done by me, Kmy Kmo and Tuju.
"The song was created with the hope that people will be more cautious and not to take the current situation lightly," he said. Luca Sickta also mentioned that the rapping or Rap Sing in the song was done by a designated singer.
“I would say that the vibes of this song are more towards urban R&B and pop. Each singer brought in their own singing style but still following the key that was set.
“Even though the recording was done separately by each singer, it was not a problem for me. By that I mean that I consider this a very special project in terms of lyrics, message and the production,” he said. Meanwhile, the singer who normally sings spiritual songs, Hafiz Hamidun considers his involvement huge.
“As Malaysians, no matter who we are, should utilize the expertise and creativity that we possess for good use. Even as a singer, it doesn’t mean that I can't contribute to good cause.
"Although it's just a line, I consider it a big contribution. When I got the demo from Universal Music Malaysia, I was thinking to myself that this will be my first time singing the Hip Hop genre. But it doesn’t feel strange since the song features a fresh melody," he said.
For a De Fam band member, Sophia Liana, the song is hoped to inspire Malaysians to continuously adhere to the government's order to stay home.
“My hope for this song is for it to inspire all Malaysians to stay put at home.”
“We hope that we will be able to break the chain of the Covid-19 virus quickly and we will be able to return to our normal lives as soon as possible.”
Sophia Liana, who did the song recording via her cellphone said, "There will also be donations made to this project to be given to government-approved charities.” Meanwhile, the actor and singer, Alvin Chong, hopes the awareness on the importance of staying at home will increase through the song.
“#JANGANKELUAR is a song dedicated to remind everyone to always stay put at home. Many frontliners are now risking their own lives to save us and the Covid-19 victims.”
“I am very happy to know that Universal Music Malaysia has offered me to be involved in this campaign. One of my goals in life is to sing and give back to the community at the same time.”
“There is no doubt that the Covid-19 incident has affected the public tremendously. I hope it will be gone soon and we will be able to get back to our old lives and feel safer,” he said.
Another great thing about the project is it has the full support of Spectrum Outdoor Marketing and Yoodo, a digital mobile service.
The Head of Yoodo, Chow Tuck Mun said the project was not solely for entertainment but more importantly was the message it conveyed.
“Yoodo is proud to support #JANGANKELUAR. It not only brings great and catchy entertainment, but also an important message to all Malaysians, especially in current situation. "In conjunction with this project, Yoodo offers free mobile data to enable everyone to enjoy entertainment and connect with one another," he said.
The #JANGANKELUAR song is available on all digital platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, KKBox, Deezer, Joox and Apple Music starting April 14, 2020.
