Shanthini Venugopal

Shanthini Venugopal has been in the performing arts industry for over 30years. She wears many hats; singer, actor, storyteller, director & facilitator.She runs her own theatre company The Jumping JellyBeans (JJB), formed in2003 specializing in productions for children. 

Shanthini does voice-overs and jingles for radio, TV & documentaries, conducts theatre workshops and seminars for adults and children and has participated as an actor and storyteller in various festivals around the world.

She acted in the Hollywood blockbuster “Anna and the King” alongside JodieFoster and Chow Yuen Fatt. 

In 2014, 2015 and 2018, she was the judge for the Asean English OlympicsStorytelling competition (AEO) organized by Binus University, Jakarta.In 2017, she was the judge for their ‘Online Radio Drama’. 

She can be seen on ASTRO TV as “Auntie English”

From an early age, Hiru, the oldest of the two used her toys to create characters in her stories and when her younger sister was old enough, Dhi was also hooked. She soon joined Hiru and the two made videos of their stories and posted them on YouTube with the help of their parents, Sham and Manu. Today’s story The Drought is written and narrated by Hiranya Menon.Rainbow Toy Narrators: Gillett – we are very fortunate to have him here with us in the studio. He has been in the performing arts industry for over 30 years, 10 of them as The Journey ManA long time ago, Johnny Gillett told stories to his younger brothers, as the eldest child of his family. His love of stories and of adventures meant that he later he soon became an actor and travelled the world performing in almost 40 different countries. He listened carefully to the local stories and histories of the places that he visited, so that eventually he decide he would tell the tales himself. He then became known as The Journey Man and his travels brought him back to South East Asia. Although he stills flies off to other parts of the world, Johnny is now often in Kuala Lumpur where he not only shares his stories, but helps others to be storytellers, whether they are in schools, libraries, community projects or the business world.
